Bras for bustier women

by Hannah Danto-Dorafsha

When Davy Piper’s co-founder Deeanne Akerson started designing bras, comfort, softness, and support were foremost in her mind. As soon as we launched, customers began telling us how much they loved the fabric and feel of our bras – and women who needed extra room in the cups just adored our full-coverage Busty sizing. In this blog, we’ll tell you everything you need to know about Davy Piper’s Busty bras.

Which Bras Are Available in Busty Sizes?

Our Adjustable Crossover Bra, Carol Racerback Bra, Charlie Cotton Crossover Bra, Diana Classic Sports Bra, Grace Ribbed Lounge Bra, Nellie Lace Racerback Wireless Bra, Nellie Simply Wireless Bra, and Serenity Ultra Comfort Smooth Lounge Bra are available in regular and Busty sizes.

What’s the Difference Between Regular and Busty Sizes?

At Davy Piper, we currently have two main categories of bras: light-support/sleep bras and moderate-support/everyday bras. Light-support/sleep bras, also called lounge bras, are perfect to wear around the house or overnight – many women wear them all day and night. These bras include our Adjustable Crossover Bra, Carol Bra, Charlie Bra, Grace Lounge Bra, and Serenity Lounge Bra (which is especially great to wear out too).

Because they’re designed specifically for larger, heavier breasts, many of our Busty lounge styles feature longer straps, additional coverage in the cups, and a wider, more supportive chest band (80% of the support in a bra comes from the chest band).

Our moderate-support bras include the Diana Classic Sports Bra and two styles of the Nellie Wireless Bra: the Lace Racerback and the Simply Wireless. The Busty versions of these styles are different from the regular sizes in three ways: the fabric, the straps, and the cups. The Busty fabric is a tighter knit to provide added support for larger breasts. The straps are a bit wider to help distribute the weight of the breasts, and the cups are designed to accommodate larger sizes (ranging from 30F to 44I).

The differences between Busty and Regular vary for each bra. The Carol in Busty has elastic inside the underbust, gathers at the bust, and longer straps, while the Grace has greater cup depth and added coverage on the side seams, as well as at the front of the bra. Like the Grace, the Nellie Bras have greater cup depth and more coverage on the sides and at the front, but they also have wider straps and sturdier yarn. Who Are Busty Sizes for?

Busty sizes are great for women who are DD/E or above. Some of our Busty sizes fit up to an I cup. Again, the sizing for each bra varies slightly, so check each product’s size chart before ordering to be sure you get the right fit. We recommend measuring before you order (many women wear ill-fitting bras without realizing it). Please feel free to check your measurements with our Customer Care Team before ordering.

Some women whose cup size falls into our regular sizing prefer the extra cup coverage of the Busty sizes. In the Carol and Charlie Bras, for example, many women who are over 5’6” – or those who have a greater distance from the top of their shoulder to their underbust – prefer the Busty sizes. If you frequently extend your bra straps to their longest length, you might want a Busty size for the additional strap length in certain styles.

Comfort Is Queen!

We know that one size doesn’t fit all, especially when it comes to bras, and we know how essential it is to have a comfortable bra. Our Busty sizes have been designed with supreme comfort and support in mind. The enhancements we’ve made ensure that more women can find a bra they actually enjoy wearing.
